H2RECYCLING
Qi implemented the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for the company JAP Energéticas Medioambientales SL of a patented hydrogen generation process based on the processing of ammonia and aluminium. The SimaPro software and the Ecoinvent v3 database were used.
The H2Recycling project intends to recover discarded aluminium through an exothermic reaction in which aluminium reacts in a reactor with ammonia water to generate aluminium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. The reaction is carried out under strongly alkaline conditions to avoid the passivation of aluminium. Upon completion, Qi wrote a sales folder for the sale of the technology to third parties
INSULCLOUD
Insulcloud won an SME instrument grant to develop the Insulclock medical device, a small electronic device very easily plugged into any insulin-injection pen, which helps patients automatically track critical information about their treatment, such as remembering the date, time and dosage of the last shot and the time of the next one, as well as monitoring the type of insulin and its temperature. A reminder system which employs visual and acoustic alerts avoids mistakes and omissions.
Qi provided coaching services, assigned by the European Commission (EASME), to the company aiming to accelerate the penetration of the emerging company in the marketplace.
The company had significant challenges ahead in terms of product refining, clinical trials, product certification, app development (telemedicine), production organisation, internal restructuring, marketing and sales launching at national and international levels (market segmentation), cooperation agreements and phase III access. In all these phases, our coach service was required to optimise those activities, reducing dead time and accelerating the market uptake.
FABRIC
FABRIC responds to the need to assess the potential and feasibility of a more extensive integration of electric vehicles in the mobility and transportation system, focusing primarily on dynamic wireless charging which allows practically all drawbacks of on-board battery packs to be avoided. On-road charging also enables the direct link to renewable energy sources.
Qi partially redacted the ‘impact’ section and participated in the project as the entity responsible for executing the business models associated with three selected scenarios using Wireless Dynamic charging of EVs, E-Trucks and E-buses on motorways, peri-urban areas and urban areas. A Cost-benefit analysis, a Life Cycle Costing and the business models where delivered during the project for the mentioned market niches.
Space Techies
Qi has developed numerous manuals on European R&D programmes (for example for the Autonomous Communities of Madrid and Valencia) and has taught courses on the preparation of European proposals. It has also advised on the development of material oriented towards sustainability and new technologies for schoolchildren. Spacetechies is a company dedicated to face-to-face training in a space dedicated to the teaching of technologies, digital skills, programming and robotics in central Madrid.
The training is for children, adolescents and adults and provides purely technical training in technological tools and devices but also supports the emotional, social and personal development of students and integrates the educational project in the centres. Qi also provides in-company training on ESG concepts.
Carbomart
CARBOMART, www.carbomart.com , is an online carbon-trading platform which brings together carbon credit buyers and carbon credit sellers. Managed by the Turkish company Green Consult and Finance, CARBOMART allows the carbon credit buyers to evaluate the carbon emission reduction projects by performing line by line project comparisons according to the social, environmental and economic sustainability criteria.
Moreover, the buyers can directly access the emission reduction projects with their sales prices directly set by the project developers/owners (sellers). This allows both buyers and sellers to get reference carbon credit prices and reference sustainability benchmarks for the emission-reduction projects. Green Consult and Finance was assessed. The company was advised in the development of the online platform and the user-friendly interface, in addition to strengthening its business plan with strategic alliances with other actors in the IT sector.
CL WINDCON
CL-Windcon addressed multi-fidelity dynamic modelling and open and closed-loop advanced control algorithms at farm level by treating the entire wind farm as a comprehensive real-time optimisation problem. CL-Windcon has taken farm-level controls from the current non-existent or basic static approach to dynamic open and closed-loop control strategies.
Dynamic closed-loop wind farm control can deal with both time-varying inflow conditions and model mismatch/uncertainties, thereby removing important technological barriers. During the preparation phase, Qi elaborated the ‘impact assessment’ section and participated in the project as a partner, evaluating how the novel control algorithms affect the reliability of the wind farm. Qi also optimised the operation and maintenance costs, thereby easing the deployment of renewable wind energy within the energy mix and accelerating its roll-out. To finish, Qi evaluated the total economic worth of the new wind farm control algorithms, maximising the potential payoffs coming from the new technology and contributing to the European Security of Supply.
Sorbos
Sorbos ORIGINAL inspired designers to come up with a straw made of water, gelatine, sugar and a stabilizing ingredient or thickener, but with the sturdiness and functionality of plastic. However, Qi was contracted to elaborate the business plan and the feasibility study for a new ZERO sugar version in its pre-commercial pilot phase which completely modifies the formulation with fewer calories. This modification has offered the possibility of adding nutrients and vitamins and has made for a healthier version than the predecessor as it has no sugar content. The project was granted as well with an H2020 SME EU aid
DEMOWIND WIP10+
Floating offshore wind (FOW) is an emerging and fast-growing technology with a very large potential market and the possibility to contribute with a large share to decarbonise the global energy mix. Following the European strategy, a complementary and experienced industry consortium with leading academic & research partners was set up to undertake the Demowind WIP10+ project with the main objective of accelerating the deployment of FOW by demonstrating at open sea using a cost-competitive wind energy solution rated at 2*6 MW of power.
Qi was responsible for preparing the business model, make calculations for LCC and LCOE and prepare the impact section.
